Are active shooters common in Boulder and Denver?
While active shooter incidents are thankfully rare in any city, including Boulder and Denver, they have unfortunately occurred in both areas. Two of the most severe incidents occurred in March 2021, when a gunman killed 10 people, including one police officer, at a King Soopers grocery store in Boulder, and in July 2012, when gunman killed 12 people and injured 70 others at a movie theater in Aurora. This was one of the deadliest mass shootings in American history. -
